Health and Wellness Services at USAO has information regarding required immunizations as well as information about wellness areas and activities on campus.
Measles, Mumps, Rubella & Hepatitis B:
Effective with the Fall 2004 semester, all new students (including transfer students) are required to comply with Section 3244 of Oklahoma Statutes Title 70. Students can meet this requirement by submitting immunization records for these vaccines to Student Services. Below is a summary of the requirements:
Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR):
All students born after 1957 are required to provide documentation of having received two vaccinations for measles, mumps and rubella. As an option, a student may provide laboratory evidence of antibodies that indicate sufficient immunity.
Hepatitis B:
All new students are required to have completed a Hepatitis B series.
Acceptable documentation of immunizations includes any of the following: copies of shot records, copies of medical records, copies of school health records, or copies of laboratory test results demonstrating immunity.

*Specific information regarding immunization for Meningitis: Oklahoma Law requires that all new students living in campus housing be provided information regarding meningococcal disease and the availability of a vaccine that may prevent meningitis. This information can be obtained from the University Health Services Office.
Students who have a medical, religious or personal objection to these vaccinations must complete and return the Certificate of Exemption form. This form can be obtained from Student Services. Please note, in the case of a public health emergency, students claiming this exemption may be barred from campus and from attending classes.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS WILL RESULT IN A HOLD BEING PLACED ON FUTURE ENROLLMENT
Health Services
USAO Health Services offers the following services free of charge, to students, staff and faculty:
- over-the-counter medication for colds, headaches, etc.
- minor emergency care for cuts, burns, etc.

Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Aquatics and Wellness
USAO promotes a healthy lifestyle and provides aquatic and fitness facilities for students, faculty and staff to enhance their physical development. USAO houses an indoor pool for instruction and open swim opportunities. The Nobbs Wellness Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Center and offers individuals a variety of aerobic exercise machines, aerobic dance room, spin bikes, and weight training. USAO also offers a Fitness Center in the Physical Education building. The fitness center offers a full weight room with a variety of machine weight exercises, free weights, and dumbbells.
Certified Healthy Campus
USAO has received a Certified Healthy Campus designation from the Oklahoma State Department of Health and is recognized for its leadership in creating a positive environment for employees and students.
This certification highlights all the ways that USAO adds values to our community beyond simply providing an excellent education. USAO was scored across 10 categories that gauged everything from alignment with the mission of higher education to cultural competency to theory and evidence-based practices in mental health, safety and other health subjects.
Health and Wellness Week
Traditionally held the 2nd week in February, this week focuses on a variety of topics including mental health, self-care, healthy eating and others.
Therapy Assistance Online (TAO)
TAO is a suite of online tools that is designed to provide you with a tool kit of effective evidence-based resources to help you bounce back from those setbacks. You have completely anonymous, free access, 24/7/365.
Intramurals
Intramural sports are a fun and social way to build community, socialize with others, and stay active. USAO offers a variety of intramural activities including flag football, basketball, volleyball, and others.
